Chapter 2. Technology Primer: Quality of Service, Traffic Engineering, and Network Recovery

Quality of service (QoS), traffic engineering, and network recovery technologies are an integral part of today's networks. Each is used extensively in the network's core as well as at its edge (in the case of QoS). Therefore, this chapter's aim is to provide a high-level overview of each of these technology areas.

As in the previous chapter, it is not our intention to provide all the technical details for each technology. References to the resources listed in the "References" appendix are included in brackets so that you can obtain more detailed information.
