Multiple net Statements

From time to time, you might see a Cisco router configured with multiple net statements under router IS-IS. This is a useful technique for merging two domains or transitioning from one addressing scheme to another, but it is not generally recommended.

When you configure two net statements, the router combines, or merges, the databases into one database. This means that routing between what might normally be considered domains ends up appearing as simple L2 routing.
