This chapter provides an overview of the quality of service (QoS) implementation and configuration in Cisco products. This overview includes details about algorithms and configuration commands. The material includes simple examples to illustrate the use of the commands. Chapter 5, "Backbone Infrastrusture," provides more elaborate examples. You will find details about both Cisco IOS and Cisco IOS XR implementations. This chapter does not include platform or hardware details because of their constant evolution. The material assumes that you are already familiar with the technology aspects of QoS. Chapter 1, "QoS Technology Overview", includes a technology overview that you can use as a reference.
